Are you so busy with your wo rk that you don’t have time to do the cleaning? Here are some helpers!
iRobot Roomba
Probably the best known of electronic household helpers, the Roomba currently absorb dirt and other dust from the floors of 2 million homes. Place this Frisbee(飞盘)-shaped machine in the middle of a room, turn it on, and watch it make its way from wall to wall and even under furniture.
Price: $200-$500, depending on the model.
Rovio
Rovio is a WiFi-enabled, camera robot that works around your home while you’re away. That way you can check up on your plants and other valuables ― perhaps, with luck, from some remote beach. This wheeled robot takes webcams to the next level and is equipped with a camera, microphone and LED for seeing in the dark. It also has GPS, which lets you set routes in your home for the robot to travel. While it can’t climb walls to get a bird’s-eye view, the camera is attached to a moveable arm that can move up and down and sideways to give different viewing angles. Rovio can be controlled by a cell phone or computer from anywhere. Price: $600-$800
Litter-Robot
Shaped like a round roof, this litter box gets rid of not only home garbage but also your cats’ waste. The system senses when the pet has left the litter box, waits seven minutes, then rotates to find out the rubbish and push it into a drawer below. Price: $850
Pleo
While it’s not really useful, we couldn’t have a list of commercial robots without including this baby dog. Pleo, the cute robot can communicate with you in simple English while cleaning.
Weighing 8.8 pounds (4 kilograms), Pleo is like a living, breathing pet as it gets hungry and tired, and feels urges to explore. Pleo sells for $469.
