Last week, I went to Montpellier in the south of France for a post and rank test which is very important for my career. So this trip was not for pleasure. However, I was looking forward to seeing my friend, who studied in Paul Valery University in Montpellier. I was quite happy to go to Montpellier because it was a part of France that I had not seen before.
Upon arriving there, I was greeted at the train station by my friend. We decided to go for a walk to Place de la Comedie before heading to the exam. Then, I received a text message from my workmate saying that the exam had been cancelled. I was originally furious because I had traveled three hours from Toulouse for no purpose.
After venting(发泄) my anger, my friend and I decided to go to the nearest shopping center---the Odysseum. I enjoyed my time there, especially my friend took me to the aquarium there, and I picked up some new French words for sea creatures like a sea lion. Also we joked around a bit while there, so my journey to Montpellier was not totally without a purpose. After this we went to have lunch, I loved the shops but I remembered after buying a new shirt for work that I need to save money for going home.
I asked my friend to show me some of the sites. My favorite site of the whole trip must have been the Arc de Triomphe(凯旋门) that is in Montpellier. My reason for this is that behind the Arc is a park area with an aqueduct(高架渠) at the top. From here, my friend and I watched the beautiful sunset before I had to go back to Toulouse.
In general, my trip was not a total waste. I had a great day in Montpellier with my friend and learnt some new French words.
